28 Jan 15 – Working bee canceled for 1/2/2015

Hi all,
We have decided to cancel this weekends working bee,

There is not a lot we can do at this point. We are waiting for more mulch to be delivered, in the process of organizing fruit and native trees to plant out, designing the pond and also designing a compressed earth brick machine that we would like to use to build the on site shed and green house.

We will be in touch with details for the next working bee.

Kind Regards,
Uralla Community Garden Committee

14 Dec 14 – UCG Street Stall

Hello,
This week from Monday the 15th of December until the 21st the UCG will be running the Uralla Community Street Stall. We will be spending the week giving information about the project and fund raising for future activities. If you have any garden related items you would like to donate to the UCG for fund raising or maybe just want to hang out and have fun your more then welcome to come show your support. We will also have some baked good and other yummy treats we will be giving out!

As the 21st conflicts with an upcoming working bee we will not be holding an event on that day. But not to worry we will be back on schedule for the 4th of January.

Kind Regards,
Uralla Community Garden Committee

2 Dec 14 – Upcoming UCG event

Hey,
This fortnights event is rolling around very quickly. As some of you may be aware we are planning to begin our native tree planting in the wind barrier/ micro climate area of the garden quite soon. In preparation for that we have organised an excursion to a local property that has been actively regenerating for over 30 years. At this event we will be given a tour of the property by the owner and also go through seed saving techniques, plant identification etc. As i have been to the property several times i can definitely confirm that this will be a great opportunity for anyone interested. 19 Nov 14 – This Sunday Funday Info

Hello,
As you may know at the last event we erected the sign and seeded the beds, the sign looks absolutely fantastic and we have a large variety of seedlings popping up. We have seen this as quite a milestone at the 6month mark since the launching of the garden. Thank you to everyone so far who has helped to get us to this point. A special shout out goes to Uralla Shire Council and everyone that works there who has/is helping, also Jo/the Uralla Neighbour Hood centre who has been very helpful in the background operations and Thunder Graphics who’s donation has made it easier for us to connect to the community. Last but not least a big thanks to the people on the ground who have been there helping build this great project. Thank you. Continue reading “19 Nov 14 – This Sunday Funday Info”

5 Nov 14 – This Sundays UCG Event

Hey,
Im excited to announce that this Sunday the 9th of November from 9am we will be planting our first batch of seeds in the seasonal veggie bed! Also at this event we will be erecting the UCG sign that Darren and myself have been building. We decided at the last working bee that starting from 9am would be a good idea seeings as its getting warmer much earlier in the day. We hope to see you there on this ground breaking occasion!

So please bring water, thick soled enclosed work shoes, hat, gloves, sunscreen and any tools that will help you with this job. As usual we will have some spare tools on site.

Kind Regards,
Uralla Community Garden Committee

22 Oct 14 – UCG Updates

Hey,
The Uralla Community Garden committee feels that the lack of a clear and bold sign for the garden is a main issue at this point. So we have decided to build one right next to the notice board that is already there. We are thinking to use 3″x6-8″ boards ( or there abouts) sized timber to carve into the name of the garden set onto two posts. We are asking if anyone has any of this timber they would like to donate to the project, money to go towards the material costs ( or future projects) and/or experience in this type of woodwork. We are also open to any other ideas or input the community has towards this. If you would like to donate money, the UCG has a bank account with the following details. Other donations please reply to this email or come talk to us at a working bee. Continue reading “22 Oct 14 – UCG Updates”
