Hey Uralla Community Garden Enthusiast,
Recently the UCG committee had a meeting where we have committed to having a working bee/ workshop fortnightly commencing Sunday the 31st of August from 10am.
Our short term goals are:
– prepare the top corner for mulching and bordered with logs then planting with native tree shrubs etc
– preparation and creation of garden beds ready to be planted with seasonal produce in spring
– The planting of selected fruit trees along the font of the swale
These are some of the main jobs we hope to work on during these working bees. We also want to be able to let everyone know previously what we will be focusing on the day.
Part of preparing the ground we have decided to rotary hoe the area first to decompact and also to remove/ kill off invasive grasses so if anyone has a rotary hoe that they would like to loan or donate to the garden please let one of the committee members know.
Some of you might be aware that recently our Secretary, Lincon Treloar recently moved overseas and we have just recently filled his position. I would like to congratulate and welcome Laura Toli to the team. We hope her inspiration and dedication will help further this project.
Last but not least we would like to thank the community support and volunteers with the recent fundraising and donations we received at the Community Street Stall. In that week we were able to raise just shy of $1200 which we will use to further build on the groundwork for the project. Thank you all!
Kind Regards,
Uralla Community Garden Committee
